
May 16. We leave Montreal for Palermo, Sicily
May 17. Palermo-arrival should be about 1:00 PM. Afternoon visit to Montréale standing on a panoramic site overlooking the Conca d’Oro.
It’s famous for its cathedral, the greatest example of Norman architecture in Sicily. Guided tour of Palermo, regional and provincial capital of Sicily. Encircled by the mountains and the sea, it is a city steeped in history. Will start the visit from the old port of the city: the Royal Palace or Norman Palace, Palatine chapel, Porto Nuova,
San Giovanni degli Eremiti, and the cathedral. Dinner at a typical Sicilian restaurant. Return to hotel for overnight.
May 18. Palermo-board luxury coach Depart for Erice- Walking tour of this charming mountain-top town, with its castles, beautiful gardens and quiet alleyways, it has retained the appearance and the atmosphere of a medieval town. Afternoon lunch to Segesta’s archaeological site. The visit the Doric Temple whose majestic appearance and dominating position bestows great nobility on the landscape. Some of the finest preserved Grecian temples are in Sicily. Return to Palermo for an evening at Palazzo Federico. Dinner with the Conte and Contessa in a wonderful atmosphere of music and food. Returned to hotel overnight.
May 19 after buffet breakfast depart for Caccomo Castle and Cefalu famous resort on the Tyrrhenian Sea. We will lunch at a working farm in the area. Afternoon visit to Santo Stefeno de Camastra famous for its ceramic. Return to Palermo for a great dinner and overnight.
May 20 After breakfast departure for Regaleale. Tour of the vineyards and winery of one of the finest wine makers in the country and of course a little wine tasting. Lunch in a typical restaurant of area. Afternoon visit to the Roman “Villa del Casale” in Piazza Armerina. Here stand the majestic ruins of the Roman villa of Casale which is famous for the splendid floor Mosaics, considered the finest in the world. Onto Taormina ,with its Greek- Roman theater begin in the third century BC, most visited place in Sicily. Check in hotel and prepare for dinner. Overnight
May 21 breakfast in hotel-morning excursion to Caltagirone — cooking demonstration in a typical Sicilian restaurant in Syracuse area. Return to Taormina , afternoon at your leisure-evening dinner in area restaurant. Overnight.
May 22. After breakfast Susan will take those that want to go on an excursion to Monte Etna. Dominick will take those who would like to go to Plati, Reggio Calabria (ancestral home of most of the Italians in Massena). Whoever is going to Plati must let me know as soon as possible.
To Taormina for overnight.
May 23 Breakfast in hotel- transfer to Milazzo for an excursion to the Islands of Lipari and Panarea and lunch of typical Island fare.
May 24 transferred to Catania airport for an early flight to Genoa, Torino or Pisa. Arrive in Genoa for a visit to the famous cemetery of Staglieno and tour of the city in the afternoon. Continue on to Moneglia a lovely, small and uncrowned village on the Italian Riviera. Dinner and overnight.
May 25. After a buffet breakfast, depart by boat, train or bus and an English speaking guide to Portofino, San Fruttuoso, Camogli and Santa Margherita. Free lunch, Dinner and overnight.
May 26 After breakfast board the coach to Parma. Morning guided tour of Parma. Lunch in a typical restaurant: Aperitivo, antipasto, two first, a beautiful second, wine and coffee. In the afternoon a visit to the prosciutto factory and then on to the parmigiano cheese factory. Late arrival at the hotel for dinner and overnight.
May 27 After breakfast a full day boat excursion to Cinqueterre and Porto Venere. Gourmet dinner at the Grand Hotel Porto Venere. Back the hotel for overnight.
May 28. After breakfast early start for Florence to reach there by 11:00 PM for the guided tour of the city. Free lunch. Board the bus to Orvieto arriving for a late night dinner in this beautiful hill town. Overnight.
May 29 Accommodations and tour of Orvieto are being made by Falesco Winery. Riccardo Cordarella, today’s #1 wine maker and world, will arrange a tour of his properties with a wine tasting. Dinner and overnight.
May30 After breakfast transferred to Rome. We will attend to show you as much of Rome as possible. By bus with English speaking guide we are going to visit the Roman Forum, St. Peter in Chains with Michelangelo’s Moses and the Trevi fountain where you can throw your coin and “book” your next visit to Rome with me. Dinner at Ambasciata d’Abruzzo and overnight.
May 31. After breakfast continue visiting Rome’s St. Peter’s Basilica those that
are interested in visiting the Vatican museum and Sistine chapel will be taken there.
The others will continue touring Rome and free time for shopping. Dinner at
Giggetto in Trastevere. Overnight.
June 1 Transfer to Leonardo DaVinci airport for return home.
